Climbing hills during the winter is great for staying in shape, but also for staying warm.
I shifted into the next easiest gear and glanced down seeing my heart rate was already up around 175bpm. I didn’t look behind me, but I could almost feel the woman who started after me breathing down my neck as we made slow progress toward the top.
My legs felt like they were getting heavier and heavier and the end of the climb was certainly nowhere in sight. All I could see was more road in front of me winding up toward the heavens.
Here is a route for those cold days that will help you get a good workout in and also help you to keep warm with a decent amount of climbing.
Here is a short but hilly ride that is a great for a quick post work training session. The route is about twenty five miles with approximately 2000 feet of climbing.
